Start secure. Stay in control.
A hardware wallet protects your private keys by keeping them offline. This page shows the essential steps to set up your Trezor device using the official Trezor Suite application—download safely, verify firmware, create your recovery seed, and confirm transactions on device.
Download official software
Always use trezor.io/start to download the latest Trezor Suite installer for Windows, macOS, or Linux. Avoid links from emails or social media.
Connect & update firmware
Plug your device to your computer. Suite will walk you through installing authentic firmware—confirm the firmware fingerprint on the device screen.
Create your recovery seed
Write down the 12 or 24 words exactly as shown. Keep them offline and stored in a secure, fireproof place—this is the only backup for your funds.
Protect with PIN & passphrase
Set a device PIN and consider an optional passphrase to create hidden wallets. These add layers of protection against physical theft or coercion.
On-device signing
Transactions are signed inside the device, so private keys never touch your computer—protecting you from malware and keyloggers.
All-in-one management
Manage Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cardano, Solana and thousands of tokens through Trezor Suite—one device, many assets.
Privacy-first
Use Tor and custom backend options to reduce metadata leakage. Discreet mode hides balances on-screen when needed.
Essential security checklist
- Never share or photograph your recovery seed; never enter it online.
- Verify every receiving address on the device before accepting funds.
- Enable PIN and passphrase; update firmware promptly when alerted.
- Use official support channels—Trezor support will never ask for your seed.
